Documentary Filmmaking
“The Road To Sanctuary” was made with the help of Culture & Animals Foundation. This film shares the following story: Inspired to rescue a discarded calf from a “livestock” auction in an attempt to rectify her previous support of the dairy industry, Meika connects with a local dairy farmer and forms an unexpected agreement that ultimately liberates twenty-one male calves from fates at the slaughterhouse and instead brings them to sanctuaries across the Pacific Northwest (USA) via a newly erected, grassroots network of activists. Below is a short documentary film, titled “Coming Closer,” that I made on the experience of bearing witness to cows as they are brought to a slaughterhouse. It was screened at the International Vegan Film Festival in October 2019 in Ottawa, Canada, and toured with this festival virtually in Spring 2020.
I also have other documentary film projects planned for down the line, and I can’t wait to share them with you in the future!
